Erwin Bellers has written many papers and presented or moderated at many digital video related conferences. He is knowledgeable about and has contributed to the development of algorithms for deinterlacing and motion estimation and compensation for the improvement of digital video compression-quality. Erwin has worked as a researcher for Philips since 1993 and is co-author of the book De-interlacing: A Key Technology for Scan Rate Conversion

Gerard DeHaan is a professor and author of many interesting papers on video image enhancement. He has also written several books and works for Philips Research.

Jeremiah Golston has written many papers and given many presentations on digital video. He is knowledgeable about a range of digital video coding standards. Jeremiah is a "distinguished member technical staff" at Texas Instruments and the chief technical officer for the company's DSP Video and Imaging group. He He is responsible for the DSP video and imaging device architecture roadmap and leading systems and software development.

Keith Jack is the author of the detailed and thorough book Video Demystified and maintainer of the web site http://www.video-demystified.com/ with up-to-date directories of Associations, Licensing Authorities, Registration Authorities, Standards Organizations, IP Companies, and IC Companies. Keith is a quintessential video expert and chip design expert, having work for companies as diverse as Brooktree (since acquired by Conexant) and Synopsys. He has worked on early NTSC/PAL encoder and decoder chips and presently works as Director of Product Marketing for Sigma Designs.

Didier LeGall is Executive Vice President of H.264 consumer HDTV camcorder video encoder chip company, Ambarella. He became vice president of engineering and business development for LSI Logic's Broadband Entertainment Division after his previous employer, C-Cubed, was acquried by LSI Logic. Didier was involved with ISO's MPEG-standardization effort from its inception and served as chairman of the MPEG-Video group until 1995. He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of California Los Angeles.

Ajay Luthra Has worked on developing image processing technology for Tektronix and General Instruments, which has since been acquired by Motorola. He has jointly chaired the ISO / ITU H.264 / MPEG AVC standardization team. He has written many papers with new insights into digital video coding methods. Ajay has also presented at numerous conferences.

Sebastian Moeritz is the president of the MPEG Industry Forum. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Berlin, Germany based video coding software company dicas. Since 1996 Sebastian has been involved in a number of information technology related ventures and joined dicas, in the beginning of 2001. Sebastian is a regular speaker at industry events as well as the author of various articles and opinions in broadcast and multimedia publications. He is also the co-author of the book Understanding MPEG-4 - Technology and Business Insights (with Prof. Dr. Klaus Diepold of the Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich, Germany)).

Charles Poynton is an independent contractor specializing in the physics, mathematics, and engineering of digital color imaging systems, including digital video, HDTV, and digital cinema (D-cinema). He does technology forecasting, systems modelling, algorithm development (including digital filter design), video signal processing architecture, color characterization and calibration, and image quality assessment. He lives and work in Toronto. He is the author of the well-written digital video text book, Digital Video And HDTV.

Iain E G Richardson is a lecturer and leader of research at The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. He is also the maintainer of the digital video web site http://www.vcodex.com/ and author of the first (and still the best) text on the H.264 video coding standard, H.264 and MPEG-4 Video Compression: Video Coding for Next-generation Multimedia

Karsten Sühring (pronounced "Suehring" in English) is the coordinator for the H.264 reference software, which can be downloaded from his H.264/AVC software web page. Karsten is a staff member in the image processing group within the Heinrich-Hertz-Institut.

Gary J. Sullivan is a program manager for video technologies and standards in the Windows eHome Platforms group at Microsoft Corporation. He has been an active and key contributor for many years to the ITU-T and MPEG standardization groups, was intrumental in bringing the two groups together for the definition of the H.264/AVC video coding standard, was the chairman of the joint video team (JVT) and co-editor of the coding standard definition document. At Microsoft Gary was the lead designer of the DirectX Video Acceleration API/DDI feature of the Windows operating system. Prior to joining Microsoft in 1999 he was at PictureTel. He was previously at Hughes Aircraft Corporation and Texas Instruments.

Peter Symes works for RCA cinema equipment making subsidiary, Grass Valley, as a manager of advanced technology. He participates in IEEE and on the ATSC committee and is Engineering VP of SMPTE. Peter is the author of the widely ready book, Digital Video Compression, is an Emmy award winner, and previously worked for Philips and Central Dynamics.

Dmitry Vatolin works for Moscow State University in the Graphics & Media Lab. He organizes and hosts the annual Graphicon international conference on computer graphics and vision. Dmitry also organizes the and coordinates the annual video codec comparison "shootout", which has become a defacto industry standard benchmark for comparing the quality and efficiency of various commercial, academic, and open source video coding tools.

John Watkinson is the author of many well-written publications (books, papers, and articles) on digital video including The Art of Digital Video and The MPEG Handbook. He is an independent professional trainer on digital video subjects. He lives in England and has worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Ampex Corporation, and Sony. John Watkinson is a lover of helicopters and has published books on that subject as well.

Thomas Wiegand is presently the head of the Image Communication Group in the Image Processing Department of the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, Germany. He has achieved many academic research accomplishments and held various positions - most noteably as the editor of the H.264/AVC video coding standard and associate chair of MPEG Video for the ITU-T / MPEG joint video team (JVT).
